Karla Boos' adaptation of the 1951 novel focuses on the two lovers, Maurice Bendrix and Sarah Miles, examining the ways they order their morality and the pacts they make with chimeras. Quantum’s contemporary style preserves the characters’ startlingly direct address and the book’s historical context, and its chosen site will highlight its intimacy. Director Martin Giles has a long association with Quantum; most recently directing the excellently received When the Rain Stops Falling last fall.
Starring: Tony Bingham (Twelfth Night and The Task) as Maurice Bendrix, Gayle Pazerski, (Thèrése Requin, The Crucible and Dark of the Moon), as Sarah Miles, and James FitzGerald (Mouth to Mouth) plays husband Henry Miles, the humorously pathetic private detective, Parkis; the Non-Conformist minister, Richard Smythe; and the Catholic priest, Father Crompton. This production contains nudity, may not be suitable for all audiences.
The Graham Greene novel, The End of the Affair is available as a $15 paperback.
