World Book Night - Monday, April 23, 2012
Volunteer as a book giver to spread the love of books in your community
Are you already registered as a World Book Night giver? If you're picking up your books at MLB our WBN pick-up party will be Sunday, April 22 from noon to 4. It's the same day as our Lisa Scottoline event but someone will be in the store at all times for pick-ups.
World Book Night will be held on Monday April 23 (Shakespeare's birthday if you want to know) and all over the United States and the United Kingdom, as well, volunteer book givers will be distributing copies of favorite books to encourage reading.
If you wish to be volunteer you must register at the www.worldbooknight.org website before February 6. Note that the deadline has been extended from the original Feb. 1 date.
Registration has ended for World Book Night but we believe that we will have additional books for you to distribute if you didn't get registered. Please call or email and we'll put you on our list.
On the site you'll find the list of 30 books that the organization has chosen for distribution. Publishers will be donating copies of these titles for distribution. As a volunteer you'll be asked for your three top choices of a book you'd like to give away. Prior to April 23 you'll show up at a designated distribution point, MLB will be one of them, to pick up your box of 20 books and off you'll go to distribute them on or about the night of April 23.
Where you distribute your books is up to you but WBN suggests places where you are likely to find folks who don't read books very much so libraries and bookstores are probably not good choices. How about movie theaters, restaurants, hairdressers, big box retail stores, bus stops, parking lots, well you get the idea.
You'll find all the information you need at www.worldbooknight.org
