Mea culpa

The August-September MLB News has now gone into the mail and if you're a subscriber you should be receiving you're copy any day now. The August-September MLB News is also available for download in PDF format.

In our haste to complete the News, however, we made rather a large goof on the front cover.

The Rebecca Drake publication party is scheduled for Friday, September 14 at 7 pm. The date and time in the News was incorrect. Apologies for the confusion.

Ten Things You Can Do to Support MLB

Many of you reading this are loyal and frequent customers who value the unique service and selection that Mystery Lovers Bookshop provides. Others of you are perhaps folks who shop occassionally or you may simply have subscribed without ever making a purchase.

For those of you who have an interest in keeping MLB healthy and strong, we've developed a little list of Ten Things You Can Do to Support MLB. Many of you reading this are already doing all these things and to you we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It is you who have helped us survive through 17 years of a difficult environment for booksellers.

  1. If you read books other than mystery, consider ordering them from us. We’re happy to order any book and most we can have within a week. You can use our Book Search form, send us an email or just give us a call at 1-888-800-6078.

  2. Why not join one of our book clubs. We have six that meet in the store every month. They offer interesting company, book discussions and food. Check the book club schedule to see which one you might enjoy.

  3. If you subscribe to our email newsletter, forward it to a friend who likes mystery.

  4. If you don’t subscribe, sign up today. Look for the email sign-up on the right side of the home page

  5. Ask us to send a sample of the MLB News to someone you know. Just call or complete the Sample Newsletter Request and we’ll send it out.

  6. Better yet, buy a subscription for someone. For just $5 you can introduce a new customer to MLB. Just add a Master of Mystery membership to the shopping cart . When you check out be sure to give us your friend's name and address in the shipping information. If you have a phone number, please include it in the Special Instructions.

  7. Next time you come to the store, bring along a friend who likes to read. We’ll do our best to turn them into a customer.

  8. Next time you’re thinking about a gift why not an MLB gift certificate? Available in any amount. Please call 888-800-6078 to order.

  9. If you see that book in a big box store, just say no. They don’t need your money, we do. And we really appreciate your business.

  10. If you haven’t been to see us in awhile, come visit, call in an order or use our website.

Fall Coffee & Crime

We're pleased to announce a new Fall series of Coffee & Crime author breakfasts on three Saturdays in September and October.

Sept. 8 - We'll lead off with Alison Gaylin and her novel of Hollywood tabloid journalism, Trashed.

Oct. 6 - M.J. Rose will be here with her riveting thriller The Reincarnationist that takes the reader on a wild ride across the centuries and the continents.

Oct. 20 - We'll wrap up the series with James Swain and a standalone thriller Midnight Rambler. Swain's earlier Tony Valentine novels have dealt with casino cheats and scams and he's quite an authority on these shady tactics.

Each event begins at 10 am and includes a continental breakfast, talk and signing for $5. Reservations are essential and you buy tickets on the website.

Upcoming Events

Sept. 8 - Coffee & Crime with Alison Gaylin
Sept. 10 - Book Club Dinner with Mariah Stewart
Sept. 14 - Rebecca Drake publication party

Happy reading during the lazy days of summer,
