Beginning with Books, a nationally recognized early literacy agency based in Pittsburgh has just announced their 9th annual picks for Best Books for Babies 2008 for books published in 2007.
These ten books offer a wonderful assortment of picture and board books appropriate for young children.

The Bouchercon committee has announced their nominees for the 2008 Anthony Awards. These awards, named for the long-time New York Times mystery critic Anthony Boucher, will be given at the Bouchercon Convention on October 12.
Mysteries are nominated in the categories of Best Mystery, Best First Mystery and Best Paperback Original Mystery.
We were very pleased to see Tana French nominated for In the Woods, which has already won the Edgar for Best First Mystery. Tana French will be at MLB for a talk and signing on July 25 at 7 pm.
Other nominees include Laura Lippman, James Lee Burke, Robert Crais and Lee Child. Congratulations to all nominees.

Ah spring…..when all the mystery readers are out walking, gardening and coming to author events. Our kickin’ Indiana Jones event with James Rollins filled the classic single screen Oaks movie theater and other exciting store events---with and without a Mediterranean buffet---scored. Mother’s Day, autographed firsts, Victoria Thompson’s third terrific virtual signing and book groups also did a nice job with sales. On to summer!

Swedish author Hakan Nesser will start up our grand world tour of Summer Coffee & Crime on Saturday, June 21 at 10 am. Nesser, a multiple award-winner, will be here with the first of his Swedish police procedurals featuring Inspector Van Veeteren, Mind's Eye. Two of the later books in the series, have already been published here.
Cost of the Coffee & Crime breakfast is $5 and reservations are necessary.
Hakan Nesser's event is the first in a series of 6 Summer Coffee & Crime events featuring authors from around the world and around the US. With the price of gas so high and the dollar so low we thought we would bring the world to you instead of the other way around. Future events include:
