Dear %%First Name%%,

Enjoy your 4th of July, MLB will be closed

Just a reminder that MLB will be closed on Saturday, July 4. In part, of course, this is due to the holiday but more importantly our daughter Alison is getting married that day. Regular hours on Sunday, noon to 4 pm as well as 10 to 5 on Monday.

Holy smoke, it's July -- time for new Staff Picks

Swing into summer with some choice titles recommended by our booksellers. You'll find the brand-new July Staff Picks on the website and, while you're there, why not take a look at picks from earlier months that you'll find in the menu on the left-hand side of the page?

Changes in publication dates

We've become aware of changes in two previously announced (or unnannounced titles).

In the June-July News we announced a paperback of The Fire by Katherine Neville. This edition has been cancelled and replaced by a trade paperback ($15) due for publication in August.

Also, we mistakenly believed that Mary Daheim's Alpine Uproar had been postponed and thus did not include it in The News. In fact, it was published this month and is available now.

Red-hot summer reading in the June-July MLB News

The June-July issue of the MLB News is out and ready for you to compile your list of vacation reading. You can download the MLB News and print it if you like. If you do, be sure to use the Adobe Reader print button not the print function in your web browser.

Book a trip abroad

Summer is a time for travel but sometimes economic realities mean we can't go to all the places we might dream about visiting. Books are your ticket for cheap trips to exocic locales. We've put together a guide to mysteries with foreign settings in the June-July MLB News in an article starting on the back cover.

You'll find even more listings, arranged geographically, in our Foreign Travel page on the website.

New British titles arrive

Some new titles have arrived from England and you'll find them on our New British page. Murder by the Sea is the fourth in Leslie Cookman's series with amateur sleuth Libby Serjeant This is an enjoyable series with a setting in a small village in Kent, Steeple Martin.

If you prefer more urban crime, try Alex Gray's Pitch Black with Glasgow's Chief Inspector Lorimer.

Murder in Italy is on the menue with Michele Guittari's Death in Tuscany featuring Michele Ferrara, Chief Superintendent of Florence's Squadra Mobile. This is the second book in the series, following Florentine Death.

We've got a tasty treat for Ian Rankin fans: a brand new crime novella, Cool Head. It's a paperback original and sells for only $4.95. How can you resist? The story concerns a hapless young man named Gravy, cause he works in a graveyard The action starts when a friend drives up in an unfamiliar car and with a bullet hole in his chest. You'll find out the rest when you pick up this nifty new volume.

Supplies are limited on this British import so don't delay, order now.
